About

I am a registered landscape architect with over 20 year's professional experience in landscape design, construction and maintenance. Raised in Southern California and educated at U.C. Berkeley, I have worked on a broad range of residential and commercial projects in the Bay Area and elsewhere in California.

My expertise includes planting and hardscape design as well as design and management of irrigation systems, landscape lighting and sustainable horticultural practices. I possess an extensive knowledge of plant material and have widespread experience working with California native plants. I enjoy working in a variety of scales and contexts, from renovating small courtyard gardens to full makeovers of large residential spaces.  I am a strong believer in a collaborative approach between client, designer and builder, where each offers their particular knowledge and perspective toward realizing a successful project.

I typically begin the design process by recording a site's existing condition, from which I develop a base plan for exploring design concepts while learning about a client's needs and preferences. The resulting conceptual landscape plan in some cases suffices as a guide to building a project, particularly with smaller residential sites and in the hands of an experienced landscape installer. Larger and/or more complex sites may require further development of design intent  through detailed drawings and specifications. I am available to assist in coordinating the construction process on a consulting basis, and, if desired, can develop post-installation specifications for ongoing care of a project for use by the client and/or maintenance personnel.
